For the SS24 campaign, Remnants of Home, the WE11DONE team traveled 6,000 miles from Seoul,
where the collection was unveiled during the Frieze art fair in September, to a quiet residential
area in Los Angeles. Photographed amidst a vaguely unsettling dreamscape of American
suburbia—complete with palm tree-lined sidewalks, eerily green lawns, basketball hoops,
classic cars, and the kind of too-perfect sunsets you only get in L.A.—the campaign revolves
around themes of memory and our concept of home.

SS24’s palimpsest garments like a bright yellow halter dress featuring the outline of a necktie
or a boxy top with off-kilter pockets are inspired by WE11DONE co-founders Dami Kwon and
Jessica Jung’s recollections of playing dress-up as children. Art is a constant influence, and this
season they took cues from the work of the Seoul-born, London-based visual artist Do Ho Suh,
renowned for his collapsible fabric sculptures, that explore how we carry our subjective memories
of the places and objects we cherish with us.

Remnants of Home’s southern California setting subtly nods to Suh’s seminal 1999 installation
Seoul Home/L.A. Home, for which he used translucent celadon silk to build a ghostly replica
inside L.A.’s Korean Cultural Center of the traditional hanok house he grew up in. It has since
been exhibited in cities around the world. The campaign’s surreal scenes embrace this hybridity
of East and West, presenting a destabilizing yet beautiful vision of the global nature of
contemporary identity, where home is wherever you find yourself and nothing is quite as it once was.
