Remnants of Home

In a coalescence of art and the sartorial, WE11DONE presents its spring/summer 2024 collection
—“Remnants of Home”— that pays homage to the legacy of Do Ho Suh. Renowned for his
transformative work in memorialisation, Suh’s architectural creations inspire WE11DONE to
transcend boundaries, blurring the lines between sculpture and clothing. These design elements
echo the reminiscences of growing up in Korea, celebrating the familiar, albeit skewed to mirror
the fluidity of scattered memories.

Imagine: The mind manifests itself as a blank canvas that stretches out before you—a metaphorical
landscape, much like an empty art gallery, that evolves into a tapestry of fragmented recollections.
Pieces agglutinate, giving emergence to recognisable yet surreal shapes. The pleats of a forgotten
school uniform, the linoleum wood printed flooring of a family room, and the dimensions of a home
find new life in the contours of garments and accessories. Each piece encapsulates a memory—
like the reverberations of a belt embedded within a skirt's silhouette, or the ghost of a blazer and tie
debossed onto a midi-dress.

The collection perpetuates the intersection of the tangible and the ephemeral. Textures and
structure bear uncanny familiarities, translating memories into wearable pieces. This approach
mirrors Suh’s use of fabric to evoke memory as a palpable entity— the essence of an object remains,
much like the silhouette of a forgotten detail interwoven into a garment. Belt buckles are reimagined
as intricate yet disproportionate jewellery, paper-like material is transformed into precision-cut sets,
and the lace-trimmed edges of separates induce the mood of a negligée that once belonged to a
loved one. Elsewhere, folded and ruched strapless dresses mimic the curvatures of a childhood blanket.

To commemorate its return to Seoul, WE11DONE ventures into uncharted territory, where the familiar
